AZERBAIJAN AND FAO SIGN NEW CONTRACT
Azerbaijan Ministry of Agriculture and UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) signed an agreement on implementation of the project to enhance the capacity of IDPs, who are resided in new settlements in the Agdam region of Azerbaijan. The contarct was signed by Minister of Agriculture Ismat Abbasov and Mustapha Sinaceur, FAO Sub regional Coordinator.
Minister Ismat Abbasov spoke about the positive impact of cooperation with FAO.
The project will be implemented in 22 new settlements and the villages of the Agdam region and will cover 22,000 people. The project cost $1.75 million, of which $1,495 million accounted for the Swiss government, and 255,000 - the Azerbaijani government.
The main purpose of the joint project is to keep the revenue base of IDps and its increase after the completion of the project. In this context, one important element is the provision of consulting and marketing services for local farmers.
