ABOUT THE NACEE BOOTH

The AQUA 2006 conference was organised jointly by World Aquaculture Society (WAS) and European Aquaculture Society (EAS), and as such it is considered the most significant aquaculture program of the year. The AQUA 2006 exhibition was organised parallel to the conference. At the exhibition, there were 143 companies and institutes with their own stands. HAKI participated as the coordinator institute of NACEE, but another member institute, the Federal Centre for Fish Genetics and Selection (FCFGS) also had a stand. Both NACEE and FCFGS were listed among the official sponsors of the conference and the exhibition. At the NACEE stand, a brochure was available about NACEE and its member institutes.

There was a great interest in the NACEE stand. Actually, all representatives of the member states present have visited it (Czech Republic, Belarus, Croatia, Russia, Romania, and Ukraine), but there were some others who wanted to know the conditions of becoming a member. There were many visitors from outside the Central-Eastern European region interested in possible cooperation with the member institutes and working groups of NACEE. Most of them were interested in the cooperation in mariculture and sturgeon culture, but many of them wanted to have more information about NACEE itself. The sending out of the requested information is still in progress.
